Magpie V1 July 26th, 2006 graphite on paper This was my first attempt at trying to make a spaceship based off of a bird. I chose the magpie as the basis for this small stunt/fighter because its wing shape really struck me. When i was 11 or so my family moved across the country from Seattle WA to Acton MA, and my dad and I drove a big truck across the country with all our stuff in it. It was on this trip that i first saw a magpie. I saw them taking off and landing and i really liked ow they looked as birds i really like the wing shape and their body proportions, so when i started thinking about birds to model this plane after i thought of the magpie. I also chose the magpie because it wasn't a very glamorous bird or a very well known one. |
